Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Client: Peterborough Schools PFI
Location: Peterborough
Department: Operations
Reports To: Hard FM & Compliance Manager
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Salary: up to £35,200, depending upon your skills and experience
Are you a motivated Mechanical Engineer looking to make a real impact? Join our team supporting the maintenance of three secondary schools in Peterborough. This role offers the chance to ensure that essential mechanical systems run smoothly and safely, directly contributing to the success of educational environments. What You'll Be Doing-
Deliver planned, scheduled, and reactive maintenance across a range of mechanical systems including air handling units, fan coil units, heating, water, and drainage

Take on occasional installation and project tasks to help improve and upgrade facilities

Keep your trade knowledge sharp and up to date with relevant qualifications

Provide accurate quotations for small works and efficiently manage your workload through Maximo (our CAFM system)

Complete all maintenance paperwork promptly and accurately to maintain clear records

Liaise with suppliers, advise on parts and labour, and help keep stock levels right

Supervise and support external contractors when needed

Join a supportive on-call rota for after-hours assistance

Follow Health & Safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for everyone

Embrace other duties as part of the team
Essential:
-
Proven experience in building services maintenance, ideally across multiple sites

Strong understanding of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work procedures

A full UK driving licence
-
Enhanced DBS certification
Desirable:
-
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a relevant field

Gas Safe registration (domestic and commercial)

Previous experience working on client contracts, particularly within education

Knowledge of asset lifecycle management

Competent Person L8 experience

Asbestos Awareness certification
-
Health & Safety and COSHH knowledge
