Classroom support are excited to be working with a school in Chatham who are looking to recruit a number of Learning Support Assistants to start after over the next couple of months on temp to perm contracts.
The school supports students aged 11-16 with SEMH. The environment can be very challenging in terms of behaviour however the senior leadership team look to promote staff members that work hard and make a lasting positive impact on their student's. There are huge opportunities to progress. Starting on a supply basis and possibility for Temp to Perm.
The positions will start on a temporary basis with the option of going permanent after a number of weeks working with the academy through our Classroom Support agency.
It is essential that you have some of the below experience:
Experience of supporting children/young adults with Social, Emotional and Mental Health, support needs, challenging behaviour management experience is a must.
A keen understanding of being able to create bonds with students that have had trauma and attachment difficulties, and to be able to quickly build trust
Worked within a Pupil Referral unit, SEMH school, young offenders institude, within the Younth Justice system or children's homes previously would be advantageous.
Experience mentoring children and young adults within SEN school's or candidates with a mental health support/young offender's background would also potentially be strong candidates for the roles.
Any experience of restraint training is highly advantageous but not necessary as the school use this as a last resort in all cases, attachment training is also advantageous but not necessary.
Solid knowledge and experience supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
Any understanding of supporting children within the foster system is also advantageous or looked after children. Previous work as a Foster Carer would also be a big advantage.
The rate of pay is £105 per day for the right candidates. Temp to perm option also.

You will need a DBS on the update service or be willing to pay £63.70 for a new DBS if you do not have one for us to be able to place you in a school.
