AK Teaching are the leading independent supply agency based in the North-East. We are currently looking for people who are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and skilled 1:1 SEMH Learning Support Assistant's to join our partnered SEN School. You will play a crucial role in helping a pupil with SEMH needs to access learning and thrive in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

Students who attend this Special Educational Needs School have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, extreme Challenging Behaviours and/or Childhood Trauma's. Applicants should be comfortable and unphased around challenging & violent behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them engage with learning and manage their emotions and behaviours.
- Implement strategies from the student's Education Healthcare Plan (EHCP) and Behaviour Support Plan.
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Support the pupil during transitions, breaks, and unstructured times throughout the day.

Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (in school, care, or similar settings) is highly preferred however not essential.
- A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and staff.
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
