An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Research Group as a Consultant Physiotherapist at the internationally renowned, Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases. The centre is based between the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and firmly at the forefront of world class care of people with nerve and muscle diseases. You will have the unique opportunity to work in this dynamic and truly multi-disciplinary team of Allied Health Professionals, Neurologists, Nurses, Administrators and Researchers.

This is a fixed term, full-time position requiring a highly experienced and senior physiotherapy leader. You will replace the current post-holder for 5 years while they are on a research secondment. We would invite you to apply if you are experienced in service innovation and professional leadership, plus consultant level expertise in complex management of neuromuscular diseases and other neurological conditions.

The post is for 5 years full-time, and will start on the 1st July, 2025.

You will work as an independent Consultant Physiotherapist within the Neuromuscular Team to deliver a comprehensive Consultant-level service to patients with neuromuscular diseases. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, seeking support/consensus as necessary, and be responsible for providing leadership in the development and delivery of first class, patient-focused physical management of people with neuromuscular diseases at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and across UCLH. As Consultant Physiotherapist you will develop educational and service innovation programmes to support the post. The Consultant Physiotherapist will have the authority and freedom to initiate and develop practice within a clinical governance framework:

You key duties will be to:
• Act as the designated lead clinical allied health professional for the Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases
• Run a physiotherapy led clinic/service and carry a patient caseload in support of the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases service objectives.
• Provide expert clinical practice, advice, and support to other professionals, the wider multidisciplinary team, patients and their families/carers, across the Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases and Therapy & Rehabilitation departments.
• Lead/work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team to achieve the Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases service developments.
