About the Role

Hays is seeking a passionate and dynamic Media Studies Teacher to join a secondary school for the Autumn Term 2025. This is a short-term opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, delivering both GCSE and A-Level Media Studies.The successful candidate will be confident in teaching across Eduqas and AQA specifications, with a strong grasp of media theory, production, and analysis. You will guide students through both exam preparation and creative coursework, helping them develop critical thinking and media literacy skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and well-structured Media Studies lessons to KS4 and KS5 students.
  • Teach the following curriculum areas:

KS4 (GCSE Media Studies)

  • Eduqas (Year 10):
    • Introduction to Media Language, Audiences, Representations, and Media Industries.
    • Analysis of TV, advertising, radio, magazines, and music videos.
    • Support students in planning and producing media products for Component 3 (30%)
  • AQA (Year 11):
    • Finalise Unit 1controlled assessments (60% of GCSE).
    • Prepare students for Unit 2.

KS5 (A-Level Media Studies)

  • Eduqas (Year 12):
    • Component 1: Investigating Media (35%)
    • Component 2: Investigating Media Forms and Products (35%)
    • Component 3: Media Production (30%)
  • AQA (Year 13):
    • MEST 4: Research and Production (25% of A-Level)
    • MEST 3: Exam Preparation (25% of A-Level)
  • Provide feedback, track progress, and support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Collaborate with the Media department to maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Media Studies at both GCSE and A-Level.
  • Familiarity with Eduqas and AQA specifications.
  • Strong understanding of media theory, production, and assessment.
  • Creative, organised, and committed to student success.
