Salary: £37,626 - £44,257

Commercial and Procurement Services performs a critical role, working in collaboration with the whole of the Council's operations, to ensure that we achieve value for money whilst balancing cost, the delivery of citizen or service outcomes and our wider responsibilities, including: sustainability, community benefit, fair work practices and the development of a vibrant local economy.
To join our highly professional and award-winning team you will require extensive procurement experience and the project delivery skills necessary to succeed. With direct responsibility for engagement, analysis, planning and the delivery of a range of procurement projects you'll need to be well organised, have good attention to detail and possess the interpersonal and communication skills to ensure positive engagement with a range of diverse stakeholders.
This is a challenging and fast-moving environment to work within, so you'll also need to be professionally and personally resilient, adaptable, and responsive to change and, importantly, recognise the key role that procurement plays in enabling the Council to deliver better outcomes for citizens and the City of Edinburgh.
Our project pipeline over the next 2 years includes a wide variety of tenders across Construction, Care, Facilities Management, ICT and Professional Services- the ideal candidate will have experience within at least one of these areas.
Secondment opportunities may be considered where candidates can demonstrate complimentary commercial and technical skills in the absence of procurement experience or qualifications.
We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.
As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we're bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.
To help achieve this, we're changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.
You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page https://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/work-us/behaviours" target="_blank">Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council
Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
