What you'll do

As a Financial Accounting Manager, you'll lead on year-end reporting, manage monthly processes, and support the wider finance team in delivering strong financial governance.

  • Prepare the financial statements for the Annual Report & Accounts

  • Manage VAT returns, balance sheet reconciliations and fixed assets

  • Lead the Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) submission

  • Act as main point of contact for external auditors

  • Oversee IFRS 16 lease accounting and asset reporting

  • Line manage and develop a small team

  • Provide accurate advice to internal teams

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • CCAB (or equivalent) qualified - or one exam from completion

  • Experience in financial accounting

  • Understanding of IFRS and audit requirements

  • Knowledge of VAT and financial controls

  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder experience

  • Experience managing or reviewing others work

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM)

  • Familiarity with HMRC VAT Contracted Out Services
