Summary


HMP Woodhill is a category A/B prisoncomprisingof five residential wings (including a stabilisation unit), a segregation unit, clinical assessment unit, the close supervision centre and reception area. Each area has a group of dedicated healthcare staff committed to improving services and delivery of healthcare to prisoners with a range of complex health problems and diverse ethnic backgrounds.


The Addictions Team helps people in HMP Woodhill who want to break a cycle of addiction to substances such as heroin, club drugs, other types of stimulants or long-term alcohol addiction. Itrepresentsthe bringing together of a variety of services under one roof to provide a better service to service users. We offer a variety of psychosocial and clinical interventions to support clients throughout their journey in custody, starting from their arrival into prison and through to their release.


An exciting opportunity has presented itself within our service! This is a unique opportunity to be part of an integrated substance misuse service combining the elements of education, prevention,treatmentand recovery within a prison environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic,self-motivatedandempathicBand4 Recovery Practitionerto complement our Addictions Team supporting the delivery of psychosocial interventions.


The post holder should be ready for a new challenge,demonstrategood communicationskillsand work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team.You should have experience ofcompleting comprehensive assessments and risk management. The successful candidate willhold a caseload of complex clients and deliver structured interventions via 1-1 and groupwork.

ClinicalResponsibilities:

1. Towork as a member of the multidisciplinary team, whichprovidesa range of specialist services to substance users, including harmminimisationapproaches, motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, care planning, health education and detoxification, mindfulness and groupwork.

1. To make continuous assessments of the psychological, emotional, social, and rehabilitative needs of clients,taking into accountthe needs of family, localcommunityand sentence plan, with regular evaluation of care plans.

1. To provide case management to a defined caseload of clients, under the supervision of theTeam Leader.

1. To use agreed and established outcome monitoring tools and any other relevant quality measures.

1. To manage the transfer of individuals between prisons and into the community.

1. To counsel individuals about their substance use, using motivational interviewing and other evidence-based interventions.

1. To ensure full risk assessment and risk management is delivered effectively.

1. To understand and implement clinical governance.

1. To ensure the highest quality of service is delivered by following local and national quality and performance standards, guidance, procedures, and practice guidelines.


1. To ensure that all work is performedin accordance withTrust policies and procedures, including Incident Reporting.

1. To support the wider service withadditionalinterventions asappropriateand with relevant training,e.g.initialclinical assessment, second signatory for controlled drugs, urine testing, dry blood-spot testing, etc.


Communication:

1. Toparticipatein multidisciplinary team meetings.

1. To liaise and communicate relevant information with partner agencies within local and Trust guidelines.

1. To promote an open dialogue culture, where a positive culture on improving communication and maintenance of healthy therapeutic relationships with clientsareenhanced and valued.

1. To contribute to the promotion of team cohesiveness and working collaboratively with colleagues in all parts of the Trust to achieve healthy and effective communication.

1. To work collaboratively in developing professional links with other statutory and voluntary service providers, ensuring a corporate approach is adopted.
