Operative Chargehand – 6 months FTC
Location: Wheal Remfry Pit Operation, Fraddon, Cornwall
Salary: Starting at £30,714, increasing to £31,728 after 5 weeks (including shift pay). After 2-3 months of training, the salary will increase to £33,298 (inclusive of shift pay and chargehand payment)
Hours of work: 38.5 per week, Day and night shifts across a 4-week rotating shift pattern:
Day Shift: Week 1: 7am – 7pm - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Wed & Thurs off)
Week 2: 7am – 7pm Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off)
Night Shift: Week 3: 7pm – 7am - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun (Wed & Thurs off)
Week 4: 7pm – 7am Wed & Thu (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat & Sun off)

The job role:
As an Operative Chargehand, you’ll support and supervise the day-to-day operation of wet mining operations at our Wheal Remfry Site. Working closely with the Shift Captain/Supervisor, you’ll oversee the use of washing hoses, SCADA controlled pumps, and conveyors to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities, but are not limited to:
• Lead and supervise production operatives across your shift
• Maintain health, safety and environmental standards
• Operate the production process to meet tonnage and quality targets
• Deputise for the Shift Captain/Supervisor when required
• Monitor and report on production metrics and performance
• Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Work collaboratively with maintenance teams to ensure preventative maintenance is carried out
• Attend production meetings and support operational planning
• Assist in training, rota planning and identify team development needs
