The role
We are seeking a seasoned IT Asset Management (ITAM) Manager to establish and drive forward the ITAM function within SSE IT. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing the ITAM Operating Model, strategies, processes, and policies, and will oversee the management & compliance of SSE's IT assets.
The candidate has demonstratable experience in IT asset management with specific experience in creating the function within a complex and busy environment. They will have strong interpersonal skills with negotiation, organisation, and decision-making skills, excellent communication, and leadership abilities, and proficient in IT asset management tools & industry standards.
You will
- Develop and implement the ITAM strategy, processes, and policies from the ground up. This includes creating a roadmap for the ITAM function, setting up the necessary systems and tools, and defining the roles and responsibilities within the ITAM team.
- Oversee the global inventory of all IT assets, both hardware and software. This includes tracking the acquisition, deployment, utilisation, and retirement of assets, and ensuring accurate asset records are maintained.
- Work closely with key SSE functions to ensure compliance with ITAM policies, standards, procedures, and audit controls. This includes working with partners to conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure that all IT assets are being used in compliance with licensing agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of IT assets, from procurement to disposal. This includes planning for future asset needs, managing the procurement process, ensuring effective deployment and use of assets, and managing the retirement and disposal of assets.
- Work with our Data teams to ensure quality and accuracy of data is provided as part of the entire lifecycle of ITAM. This includes ensuring the right level of reporting is being provided giving insights and recommendations to senior management based on asset data.
You have
- Demonstrable experience of successfully running an ITAM team, with strong technical knowledge to provide team with support and guidance, ability to provide leadership and focus for the team.
- ITAM managers should have knowledge specific to the industry they are working in and an understanding of ITAM and ITIL Frameworks and best practises.
- Understanding of IT hardware, software, and cloud services is crucial. This includes knowledge of different types of IT assets such as software, hardware, and cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of IT contracts, licenses, and compliance requirements is essential, specifically, knowledge of Product Usage (technical obligations and applications of licences), Entitlement, Effective Licence Positions in support of Audit Defence.
- ITAM managers often need to manage multiple projects at once, so project management skills are important.
