Crynodeb

Clinical Practice Conduct patient assessments and physical examinations, using evidence-based judgment to guide treatment. Request and interpret investigations (e.g., blood tests, X-rays, ECGs) and perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, catheterisation, and blood gas sampling. Support safe prescribing and medication management, including independent prescribing where applicable. Facilitate timely referral and transfer of critically ill patients to and from ICU/HDU. Provide psychological support to patients and families affected by critical illness. Manage care for patients with medical devices (e.g., CPAP, NIV, tracheostomies) and participate in multidisciplinary rounds. Support treatment escalation planning, DNA-CPR decisions, and end-of-life care pathways. Act as a senior clinical resource, supporting ward staff and attending emergency calls, including cardiac arrests and major incidents. Manage outreach caseload, responding promptly to referrals and adapting priorities based on patient needs. Leadership and Management Lead and support colleagues in complex clinical and end-of-life decision-making discussions. Develop communication skills to manage challenging situations and inter-professional collaboration. Contribute to service improvement, governance, and risk management activities. Participate in clinical supervision and support team wellbeing. Manage rostering and maintain professional development.
