We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.
This role will be within our Electricity Transmission team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
We’re proud to be a contractor to National Grid and this will be working on these contracts in South West England and South Wales!

What will you be doing?
As an Assistant Construction Manager, you’ll help coordinate activities on site from the commencement of the project through to final commissioning and completion. You’ll;
- Coordinate and deliver capital projects for National Grid and private clients within the Electrical Transmission business unit.
- Oversee integration of design, construction, commercial, and programme elements to meet key milestones.
- Manage design assurance processes and ensure timely submission of programme updates and handover documentation.
- Support site teams with constructability reviews, safety documentation, and subcontractor coordination.
- Liaise with clients, attend project meetings, and ensure compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Contribute to early-stage planning, resource forecasting, procurement, and accurate record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive knowledge of the Electrical Transmission industry with competency to work on substations (up to 400kV) is essential!
- NEC contract and HSE compliance knowledge
- Cost / value reporting exposure
- Collaborative team player across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Full UK driving licence; willing to travel and work away
- Familiar with National Grid Technical Specifications
- Effective relationship and stakeholder management
- Ideally qualified to a suitable level in an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Previous or current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11
