Job Title: PE HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)
Location: Kestrel House School, Crouch End, London N8 9EA
Salary: £25,882 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Are you passionate about physical education and ready to inspire young people through movement, play and inclusive sport?

We’re looking for a dynamic and committed PE HLTA to lead on all physical activity across our school, helping every learner – regardless of ability – develop confidence, wellbeing and a love for movement.

About the Role

As our new PE HLTA, you will:

Lead and deliver engaging, inclusive PE sessions and physical activities across all age groups
Work closely with Class Community Leads and support staff to promote active participation for all learners, including those with SEND
Foster independence, build self-esteem, and support pupils in achieving personal and physical milestones
Use creative, safe and inclusive approaches to support learning through sport and activity
You will also:

Help plan, prepare and evaluate learning activities within your subject area
Support and lead small groups or full classes under the guidance of a teacher
Play an important role in whole-school wellbeing, behaviour support and inclusion
Maintain a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment
Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school
What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

A Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
Experience working with children, ideally within an SEN or inclusive learning environment
Good organisational and communication skills
A passion for physical activity and the ability to adapt sessions to a wide range of learners
Strong behaviour management skills and knowledge of safeguarding procedures
A calm, positive and enthusiastic approach
A willingness to complete the HLTA qualification within the first year (if not already held)
About Us

Kestrel House School is a specialist SEN school located in Crouch End, Haringey Borough. We support pupils aged 5–16 with autism and associated communication and learning challenges. Just a short walk from an Overground station and served by multiple bus routes, the school is well connected for commuters.

You’ll be joining a school where children are respected, heard, and supported in achieving meaningful outcomes. You’ll play a key role in assisting teachers and ensuring pupils’ wellbeing, comfort, and safety.
