What skills and experience we're looking for

As a school, we are committed to providing children with a safe, stimulating, and positive learning culture. We live by our school values of ‘Believe, Inspire, Achieve.’ We are looking to appoint a Year Leader from January 2026; someone with drive, a passion to make a difference and a love of learning. We aim for children’s learning experiences to be engaging, creative and thought-provoking. We believe every child deserves excellent teaching and curriculum provision so that they progress and succeed. You will be leading a team of teachers and support staff across four classes to secure this. You will have responsibility for a class in your year group with dedicated weekly leadership time, as well as a TLR and your PPA entitlement.

You will have a secure knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum and will have high expectations of pupils’ academic achievement and personal development. As a Year Leader, you will have a track record of securing excellent outcomes for your class and adapting curriculum provision to close gaps in learning.

You can inspire, challenge, and motivate both colleagues and pupils to excel, providing them with the support and encouragement needed for them to gain confidence and independence. You can adapt teaching and learning approaches to provide an inclusive learning environment for all pupils, supporting others to do the same.

What the school offers its staff

As a professional and dedicated staff team, we collaborate to secure high-quality provision for children, working together to share expertise. You will benefit from being able to work as part of the leadership team, consisting of other experienced Year Leaders, SEND leader, Assistant Head Teacher, Deputy Head, and Head Teacher. You will have the additional support of a Pastoral Team in your collaborative work with colleagues, parents and the wider community for success and the continued safeguarding of pupils.

The school is part of the University of Chichester Multi-Academy Trust family. Each academy has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued and proud to be part of the Trust. There are a range of professional development opportunities available within our school and as part of the Trust. We are committed to providing a range of leadership pathways and experiences, personalised to your own needs. As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing and delivering high-quality education, we have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact, giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working.

At the University of Chichester Academy Trust, we believe that diversity drives creativity, innovation, and excellence. We are committed to providing equality or opportunity, fostering an inclusive culture, and creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented within our workplace, including people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, LGBTQI+ individuals, and women (particularly for senior leadership roles).

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
