Randstad Education is working closely with a highly specialised secondary school in the Luton area to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teacher for a full-time, permanent position. About the School

The school caters to students aged 11-19 with a range of severe and profound learning difficulties. Many pupils are non-verbal and require support with physical and sensory needs, so the ideal candidate will be someone who is confident with a multi-sensory approach and can deliver highly differentiated lessons.

The leadership team is exceptional, with strong support systems in place for all staff. Class sizes are small, with a high staff-to-student ratio, ensuring pupils get the attention and care they need.

Your Role

• Plan, deliver, and assess personalised lessons that cater to students with PMLD, following EHCPs and tailored IEPs

• Create a safe and stimulating learning environment that encourages engagement, independence, and emotional regulation

• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide holistic, child-centred care

• Use a variety of sensory resources and assistive technology to support communication and cognitive development

• Contribute to multidisciplinary meetings and liaise with parents and caregivers regularly

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or an equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification

• Proven experience teaching students with PMLD or severe/complex needs in a special school or similar setting

• Strong understanding of safeguarding, EHCP implementation, and adaptive teaching methods

• Confidence working with non-verbal pupils using tools such as PECS, Makaton, switches, or eye gaze technology

• A calm, empathetic and flexible approach with a genuine passion for inclusive education
