About the role
x1 full time Early Prevention Worker (fixed term contract for 2 years)
Grade 9
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Homelessness and Housing Options Team in the form of the Early Prevention Worker role. The Early Prevention Worker plays a vital role in preventing homelessness by providing targeted support, advocacy, and housing advice to individuals and families at risk. Acting as a key link between the community and statutory services, the postholder will manage a high and varied caseload, offering person-centred, holistic support that addresses both immediate housing needs and underlying issues. Working closely with the Homeless and Housing Options Service, as well as a wide range of partnersincluding schools, GPs, outreach teams, and voluntary organisationsthe role focuses on early identification, intervention, and sustained prevention. The Early Intervention Worker leads on multi-agency collaboration, delivers bespoke training, and ensures that clients are connected to the right services at the right time.
The role requires key skills and experience:
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, statutory guidance, and rough sleeping, particularly in relation to homelessness
- Experience supporting individuals and families with complex needs using a person-centred approach
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience in multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working
- Committed to Equality, Diversity, Customer Care, and delivering high-quality services
- Able to work flexibly across different locations and participate in out-of-hours duties on a rota basis
This role will sit within the Rough Sleeper Team, with the postholder reporting directly to the Rough Sleepers Co-ordinator.
The postholder will be required to work flexibly from various locations across the borough and carry out visits in response to service demand.
Normal hours of work are 37 hours per week based around the usual business working week. Dependent on service requirements, you may be required to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
