Are you a Psychology graduate with clinical mental health experience looking for a new challenge?
The Oxfordshire Prevention & Early Detection (OPEN) Service for At Risk Mental States (ARMS) provides timely assessment, intervention, and monitoring for those at clinical high risk for developing psychosis. We work closely with our well-established Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) Service and with our research partners in the Departments of Psychiatry and Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, to ensure that we are providing timely assessments and access to effective interventions.
We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist on a full time basis to fill a crucial role in the recently established and developing OPEN ARMS service in Oxfordshire for young people at clinical high risk for developing psychosis.
You will be working with a small team of psychology, psychiatry, keyworker and admin staff to develop and provide a highly specialist service to the clients of the OPEN ARMS Service, across a variety of settings in the community.
Excellent opportunities for development are available and the post-holder will be supported to conduct detailed clinical assessments and to deliver manualised cognitive behavioural interventions to individuals and family work to clients and their supporters.
Main duties of the job- Promoting and receiving referrals
- Conducting clinical assessments,
- Delivering structured interventions,
- Routine data collection.
- Support clients to access resources available in the community and participate in treatment trials

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria- An upper second-class honours degree, or higher in Psychology. Entitlement to graduate membership of the BPS
- Further post graduate training in relevant area
- Post graduate work with people with mental health problems
- Paid work with people experiencing psychosis or other complex difficulties
- Experience of working with families
- High level communication skills (written & verbal) including an ability to communicate and working settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
- Experience using software for databases and data analysis
- Understanding of the needs and difficulties of young people with mental health problems
- High degree of organisational skills, ability to adjust priorities.
- High standard of report writing
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
- Interest in working with people with mental health problems
- Able to interact effectively with staff from other disciplines
- Able to work independently and use supervision
- Willing to work flexibly and manage change
- Able to travel across the county
- Able to drive and has a car
