Maintenance Assistant, Cornerways Residential Home, Paignton - 40 hours per week, to include alternate weekends. £13.00 per hour, £13.25 per hour at weekends.

Fix What’s Broken. Protect What Matters. Support Dignity.

You’re the one people call when something’s not quite right. A loose handrail. A flickering light. A leaky tap. But in this job, you’re doing so much more than odd jobs - you’re keeping people safe, warm, and dignified.

As a Maintenance Assistant you’re a quiet constant in the background, helping the whole place run smoothly. You’re the one making sure residents’ rooms feel like home. You’re the calm presence when something breaks and a quick fix makes all the difference. You’re practical - but you’ve got heart, too.

What you'll be doing:

· Carrying out day-to-day repairs and basic maintenance tasks across the home.

· A wide range of maintenance tasks using your practical skills in a number of ways including: decorating, undertake basic plumbing, health and safety checks, general maintenance and more.

· Keeping equipment, fixtures, fittings and communal areas in safe, working order.

· Responding quickly to issues - because in a care home, even small problems can feel big.

· Supporting planned maintenance, safety checks, and compliance tasks.

· You will need to be reliable and flexible, hold a full UK driving licence, own transport and demonstrate good written/verbal communication skills.

· Working with care and housekeeping teams to keep the home safe, functional and welcoming.

Who you are:

· Handy, practical, and confident with tools and small repairs.

· Someone who sees the job through - because you care about people, not just things.

· Respectful and professional - you’re working in people’s homes, not just a building.

· A team player, but comfortable working independently.

· You will need to be reliable and flexible, hold a full UK driving licence, own transport and demonstrate good written/verbal communication skills.

· Organised, calm, and willing to help wherever needed.

What we offer:

· A team that truly values what you do - even if they don’t always see you doing it.

· A chance to work in a place where your efforts make a direct impact on people’s lives.

· Flexible shifts and supportive management.

· Free DBS check

· The use of ‘Flex Earn’ enabling you to access wages earnt in advance of pay day, viewing earnt wages in real time.

· Free meals provided when working long shifts

· Access to Peninsula Care Homes Mental Health First Aider; an external Confidential Care helpline for you and your family members; Peninsula Care Home’s ‘Whycare?’ app and Refer a Friend scheme

· A purposeful, people-focused workplace where everyone plays their part.

This is more than maintenance. It’s peace of mind. It’s dignity preserved. It’s the quiet care that holds everything else together.

If you're the kind of person who wants to fix more than just things - we’d love to hear from you.
