An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join the South Lakes Older Adult CMHT on a temporary basis for 28 hours per week, maternity cover. The team are looking for a dynamic colleague who shares our passion for ensuring that individuals enjoy great care and health regardless of age and diagnosis.
We are looking for a forward thinking, caring individual who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with mental health difficulties relating to the ageing process and people who have a dementia diagnosis.
One of the main roles of this post is to supervise, educate and support staff, manage referrals and to communicate team needs.
This person must be able to work as a member of a strong multi-disciplinary and a very progressive team.
The post holder will be an integral member of the South Lakes CMHT Older Adults. The CMHT provides assessment and interventions for individuals with severe and enduring mental health needs, including dementia. As an Occupational Therapist they will provide assessment and intervention to support a person’s occupational engagement and participation and acting as a specialist resource within the multi-disciplinary team, for example carrying out functional assessments to assist diagnosis.
The post holder will primarily work within the ‘Early Memory’ pathway under the supervision of the Senior Occupational Therapist. Some input into other pathways may also be required.
The post holder will;
• Hold a BSc Hons in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification).
• Manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions to facilitate recovery for people with Dementia and other complex mental health needs
• Use the Model of Human Occupation as the primary model to translate theory into practice,
• Work closely with other professionals within and outside the Community Team
• Actively support the Team Leader in the achievement of KPI / CQUIN targets, and maintenance of registration with regulating bodies
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
