An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Senior Healthcare Support Worker (SHCSW) on the Oncology & Haematology day unit (OHDU) at Weston General Hospital.

The OHDU at Weston General Hospital is a friendly, small but busy day unit that offers an out-patient service to patients receiving treatments for cancer & haematology disorders. We are seeking an experienced Healthcare Support Worker band 3 with an interest in Oncology and Haematology to complement and support the team.

The applicant must ideally have Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support or equivalent, experience in cannulation and venepuncture, have a kind and caring nature and be open and willing to learn. Support and training will be given in peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) care and managing venesection clinics.

Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients receiving systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.

You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare, or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values. This will include peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) care and performing venesection procedures
