You will use your editing skills to provide essential support to the editor, Madeleine Callaghan, helping to ensure the reputation of the University by establishing Percy Bysshe Shelley’s texts by meticulous editing. You will play a key role in maintaining our reputation for Romantic period literature by establishing the texts in collaboration with Dr Madeleine Callaghan. As this role requires a meticulous eye for details, it provides an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in editorial work and writing up commentaries/notes upon texts. This role offers you the opportunity to gain intense familiarity with Shelley’s works by becoming a key part of the team aiming to present a new view of Shelley’s achievement. In this varied and dynamic role, you will be responsible for working on the central principles of scholarly editing: namely, the need to follow copy-text; to indicate divergence from it clearly; to be able to prepare collations. Working alongside Callaghan, the role will offer you an opportunity to grow and develop your editorial skills. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and the University: remote working is fine if the candidate can commit to regular editorial meetings (at least once a week in Sheffield). We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
