Following the retirement of the current postholder an opportunity has arisen within the Estates, Facilities and Development finance team for a Deputy Finance Manager. Key duties include completing the month end cycle within strict deadlines, analysing variances, presenting financial information to non finance managers and attending meetings to understand the financial performance of the Estates, Facilities and Development Department.


The Deputy Finance Manager for Estates, Facilities and Development will be responsible for providing professional financial advice to Director, Deputy Directors and staff within the department, operating across both HUTH an d NLaG. They will work with the Finance team,


Care Groups and Services and to assist their understanding of the financial position and support how we continue to deliver high standards of care in a sustainable way.


The role will either be based at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital (Grimsby) or Castle Hill Hospital (Cottingham, Hull), and will be a minimum of 40% office based.



In this role you would be expected to perform the following duties:
1. Producing and presenting detailed, accurate inform ation in a range of formats to finance and non finance staff; generating discussion to assist in improvements to financial or business management; including assisting with activity and unit costing analysis.


2. Work with the management teams and Care Group c linical teams, to advise and
support reviews of the cost savings program whilst evaluating and influencing their
outcomes. Monitoring progress of cost savings and alerting of any potential risks of
non achievement.
3. Provide appropriate advice on the interpretation of financial information, following
appropriate accounting principles, investigating complex financial enquiries, analysing
invoices, to ensure the Group/Trusts, are reporting a true and fair view of the financial position.


4. Responsible for maintaining, improving and analysing risk of current accounting systems and processes and ensuring these are adhered to; including trading account processes and assisting with pass through reconciliations.


5. The post holder is responsible for providing pro fessional financial advice to managers within a range of specialist areas across the organisation. Using their understanding of the financial position to help inform how we continue to deliver high standards of care in a sustainable way.

Has previous experience within an accounting environment and have preferably obtained your AAT qualification and are studying towards your CCAB qualifications, or has significant accountancy experience working in a finance setting.

Works in a pro-active way as an integral part of the team to ensure all reporting deadlines are met on a monthly basis.

Has experience of working effectively, uses their initiative and can think on their feet

Has good influencing and analytical skills with advanced computer literacy skills

Can manage a number of tasks simultaneously and maintain excellent attention to detail while working to strict deadlines
