Thorn Baker are working collaboratively with an established Facilities Management company, based in the London area of the Uk, to resource a qualified Finance Manager.
The busines specilaises in contract cleaning across the UK and effectively supports the soft services offering for a multitude of exceptional high end clients.
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Finance Manager to lead the UK financial operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
This senior finance role is pivotal in managing statutory and group reporting obligations, overseeing the end-to-end financial close cycle, driving strong internal controls, and maintaining balance sheet integrity and cash flow discipline.
You will lead and inspire a geographically dispersed team of finance professionals, ensuring robust performance in all sub-functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and credit control.
You will act as a key liaison between Group Finance and other internal stakeholders, including Payroll and Commercial Teams.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory & Group Reporting
• Lead preparation of UK statutory financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
• Deliver accurate and timely group financial reports in line with corporate timelines and standards.
• Support year-end audit processes and act as the principal liaison with external auditors.
Audit & Compliance
• Coordinate and manage external audit engagements across all UK entities.
• Ensure full compliance with internal and external financial policies, standards, and regulations.
• Maintain strong governance procedures and support internal audit reviews and actions.
Financial Control & Close
• Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Maintain high-quality financial reconciliation's and balance sheet reviews.
• Ensure accurate accruals, prepayments, and journal entries.
Cash Flow Management
• Oversee and optimise cash flow forecasting and treasury planning.
• Monitor working capital performance and implement improvements in receivables and payables management.
Internal Controls & Governance
• Implement and monitor financial controls and policies across all UK business units.
• Drive improvements in process automation, control environment, and SAP usage for better visibility and accuracy.
Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor teams across management accounting, reporting, AP, AR, and credit control.
• Foster a culture of ownership, visibility, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Drive high performance in remote teams, ensuring clear communication, accountability, and engagement.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Partner closely with the Payroll and Commercial teams to align on financial performance, headcount, project costs, and other cross-functional deliverables.
• Partner closely with the Senior Leadership Team providing financial insights and guidance.
Skills & Experience Required
• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
• Extensive experience in financial management and statutory reporting in the UK, including IFRS compliance.
• Strong track record in managing audits and group-level reporting processes.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing remote teams across multiple sub-functions.
• Deep understanding of internal controls, cash flow forecasting, and financial close processes.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP systems (especially in financial modules).
• Experience in corporate funding, governance structures, and managing finance in a group ownership setting.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
