About us

RIS plays an important role in advancing the University's international reputation for research and knowledge transfer by:
* increasing the volume of externally funded research
* improving grant application success rates
* enhancing strategic and operational support to academic departments

Working as part of a small but collaborative team, you will have the direct responsibility, under the supervision of the Post-Award Manager, for the financial administration of projects within a portfolio of academic departments.

Duties will include:
* Post-Award management of research projects, in accordance with terms and conditions of the funder.
* Providing advice and guidance to academic researchers.
* Monitoring income and expenditure on projects in accordance with the grant funding terms and conditions.
* Generating reports for awarding institutions on project expenditure.
* Submit invoices, financial returns, and statements to research sponsors.

About you

You will possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong budgeting and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Office software, particularly Excel, is essential, as is a keen attention to detail. A financial qualification such as AAT, partial qualification as an accountant, or a solid financial background is required. You should also demonstrate self-confidence, the ability to assert yourself effectively, and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.

Further information

This is offered on a part-time basis, working 29.2 hours (0.8 FTE), with the option of hybrid working (with a priority for working on campus on Tuesdays). The hours can be worked as four full days, with Tuesday and Friday as a required working day, or part-time over 5 days. Please feel free to contact us to discuss this prior to applying, if it's important to you in deciding whether or not this role might be right for you and your personal circumstances.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Jane Heywood, Post-Award Manager (chsjajh@bath.ac.uk) or Lizzie Hope-Dyer, Head of Research Funding (erh23@bath.ac.uk), however, please ensure that your application is submitted via the University website.
