Summary


The Band 6 midwife will work with the wider maternity service to drive forward the bereavement care & coordination. The role will help ensure that all workforce members feel confident & competent infacilitatingbereavement care across OUH.





The post holderis required tobe an autonomous, accountable practitioner and will share the coordination of care for women and their families through an acute baby loss, as well as through asubsequentpregnancy. This will be in partnership with the band 7 Bereavement Specialist Midwife, Bereavement MSWs & Lead Obstetric Consultant.





The post holder will ensure the smooth running of the service in the absence of the Band 7 Bereavement Specialist Midwife and will provide clinical leadership to midwifery and support staff.




Please Note:This job is not eligible for overseas sponsorship or for international educated midwives without a current full NMC Pin or new to midwifery practice in the UK.

This role is mainly weekdays with some weekend working required. You will be required to work flexibly to support the service demands.


• Work flexibly to support other more junior colleagues on a day-to-day basis.




• Demonstrate excellent personal communication. Establish andmaintaineffective two-way communication channels with individuals and groups. Demonstrateappropriate assertivenessand ability to challenge others when the rights of women and others may be infringed.




• Actively promote excellent team working and interdisciplinary relationships.




• Understand and attend the PMRT meeting liaising with thePerinatal Mortality Review Coordinator as needed





• Understand and complete BRRACE documentation including Notifications and have an awareness of the CDOP reporting systems

• Shared clinical responsibility with the band 7 in facilitating follow up bereavement care & the coordination of the Rainbow Clinic







• Act up as the lead for bereavement in the band 7 absence




• Contribute new and practical ideas to improve efficiency across the service.




• Competently record information on the maternity data system and retrieve relevant information from the Information Technology systems




• Toparticipatein flexible rostering, to provide a safe ‘woman centred’ maternity service.
