Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesnt mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isnt fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Maintain a high standard of care, adhering always to Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHBs policies, guidelines and procedures, and may be required on proposed changes to procedures and working practices. Venepuncture and ECG training to support team or willingness to undertake training. Accurately record temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, blood pressure, peak flow, height, weight, head circumference and oxygen saturation as required and be aware of normal and abnormal values, reporting to the Registrant/Medical Practitioner any changes or abnormal values. Following competence-based training; the post holder will undertake clinical tasks such as recording of vital signs. Collect and transport clinical specimens as requested by the registered nurse. Respect the parents/carers individual values, beliefs and culture, adopting a non-judgmental attitude. Ensuring that the needs of the child are paramount and to be aware of and adhere to Policies and Guidelines in relation to the Safeguarding of Children. Answer the telephone in a polite and professional manner, adhering to the Welsh Language Standards, record messages accurately and ensure the information is conveyed to the Nurse in charge in a timely manner. Ensuring when answering the phone, no confidential information is given. Liaise with parents/relatives/carers to identify needs and obtain views regarding consumer satisfaction as directed by the Ward Manager. Use effective communication skills, both written and verbal, when communicating with parents, carers and all members of the multi-disciplinary team including Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians and Medical Staff, where there may be barriers to understanding e.g. hard of hearing, learning disability, English not the first language. Report any complaints to the Nurse in Charge in a timely manner.Adhere to the Health Boards Information Governance Policy. Utilise electronic patient information systems e.g. Myrddin, paper based records to update patient information and record observations and assessments. Maintain accurate and legible signed records/computer records while maintaining confidentiality. Compile reports regarding patient care and management reports as and when required. Adhere to Health Board Policy on data entry, storage and retrieval of patient sensitive information. Occasionally participate in collecting appropriate data and statistics required for local audit and surveys. Undertake a range of clerical duties to support the nursing team including standard keyboard skills, photocopying, filing, faxing, preparation of documentation, archiving notes. Undertake the ordering of consumables/equipment under the direction of the ward manager. Maintain notice boards in the department with appropriate information promoting health and wellbeing.
