More detail about the role In this role youll be encouraged and supported to increase your skills and experience through extended roles and innovative automatous working practices. Youll deliver clinics at a range of locations including in the acute and community settings. Depending on the successful candidates previous professional experience the post holder will spend a significant amount of time working in an extended role capacity, supporting theorthoptic led glaucoma service.The glaucoma aspect of this role will involve working alongside nurse and orthoptic assistant colleagues to monitor and managing glaucoma patients. This role will support further development of the glaucoma service and the staff who provide this service. The successful candidate will: Be part of a team that is at the forefront of innovation and development in both our services and our people Support the core orthoptic service working as an autonomous practitioner Be responsible for service development Train and supervise junior staff within the glaucoma monitoring service Take part in regular glaucoma led multi-disciplinary team meetings Be registered with the HCPC Be willing to travel to community locationsNot quite ready for a band 7 post?For the right candidate, we can offer a developmental post, providing appropriate development, training, and mentoring opportunities. Those who do not have all the relevant experience will be paid at Band 6 rate and progress to Band 7 on completion of the relevant competencies. About the service The Orthoptic department currently provides general adult and paediatric clinics including patients from eye casualty, neurology, stroke rehabilitation team, school vision screening, and special school screening. In an extended role capacity, we currently support/work in the following clinics :Dystonia/Botox, JIA, AMD, and Glaucoma Monitoring. We actively encourage CPD and you will have an opportunity to spend time with our range of specialists as part of your CPD. Youll be involved in clinical audit, clinical governance sessions, dedicated journal clubs, departmental meetings and courses/ seminars relevant to the role. Working Pattern: 37.5 hours, part time considered Interview Date: To Be Confirmed Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date.
