Planner

A house builder have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Planner to join a growing housing developer as a Planner / Planning Manager

Reporting to the Head of Planning you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of fully implementable planning consents to meet the immediate business targets and maintain, manage, and monitor programmes showing the progress on condition clearance, reserved matters and other consents required to implement any scheme in the regional programme.

Planner key duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Regional Management Team to deliver the regional planning and profit targets.
  • Help develop a strategic land portfolio to support company growth plans
  • To assist in the submission and negotiation of Planning Applications and, following the grant of planning consent to draw up and agree a programme of action to clear/discharge all necessary consents, conditions and matters that may prevent the implementation of a consent.
  • To support the land team in promotional activities in conjunction with the regional Land Director and Chief Executive.
  • Chasing progress and coordinating activity and liaisons across the company functions to ensure that development programmes are adhered to.
  • Preparing a monthly progress report of all relevant schemes and highlighting progress or slippage against original estimates.
  • Liaising with regional colleagues to identify opportunities for cost savings that may flow from meeting conditions and reserved matters in the most cost-effective or economical manner.
  • Preparing ad hoc advice to the company relating to any changes in planning policy (national/local) that may impact on the cost or future delivery of new opportunities.
  • Attending meetings that may be necessary in the performance of your duties.
  • Complying with and upholding company policies and procedures.
  • Undertaking any additional tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time

Planner skills and experienced required:

  • Experience in a planning or development role within the construction, property development or housing industry.
  • RTPI and/or RICS accreditation
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience of leading planning applications and dealing with appeals
  • Experience in liaising and negotiating with a wide range of individuals and organisations including professional consultants, local authorities, Registered Providers/Clients involved in the development process
  • Excellent knowledge of the planning system and development process, design and technical issues relevant to house building and affordable housing contracts
  • Ideally RTPI, MCIOB and/or RICS qualified
  • Proven ability to deliver viable planning consents including on larger phased sites.
  • Ability to build productive stakeholder relationships
