Working with the Trustees the candidate is expected to manage the operations of the Community Centre, its staff, the development and delivery of activities and maintaining/utilising the facilities in line with Tanterton Village centre values. Create a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are well managed, dignity at work is upheld and staff and volunteers are able to achieve their best. To work with the various groups accessing the Community Centre, but in particular the young people in the Ingol and Tanterton area to understand their needs and in relation to the younger groups plan diversionary activities to help reduce anti-social behaviour.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit and train paid and voluntary staff.
• Supervising/managing catering volunteers, cleaning staff and part-time youth worker.
• Lead on GDPR and Safeguarding, maintaining records to ensure the charity fulfils all its legal, responsibilities.
• Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and best working practices
• Ensure employees, consultants, contractors, volunteers work collaboratively with each other and with users of the facilities, in a safe and constructive way.
• Continue developing and maintaining relationships with various local partners to ensure activities at the Community Centre fit with the area.
• Ensure through listening to the community, monitoring and evaluating provision and adapting the service, the Centre meets the needs of the local community.
• Prepare reports for and attend all Board and annual general meetings.
• Identify and help secure new funding through grant applications and other means.
• Continue maintaining and developing positive relationships with funders, grant makers, sponsors and individuals.
• Support, oversee and help run the continued delivery of services and activities.
• Flexible in assisting in areas of work which go beyond their main duties.
• Deal with day-to-day complaints from the public and take action to develop and implement improvements as required.
• Update and maintain Tanterton Village Centre website.
• Develop and promote activities and events to maximise utilisation of the Centre’s accommodation and facilities.
• To take room hire bookings including payments and the issuing of receipts and to ensure that an accurate lettings diary is maintained.
• To ensure that the arrangements are made for the opening and closing and preparation of the Centre before and after lettings and the Centre is clean, well maintained and any damage is reported to the Committee.
• Initiating activities and programmes which promote the Centre, increase use and generate income.
• Be available to drive a minibus when needed for trips.
• To work with young people in the Ingol and Tanterton area to understand their needs and plan diversionary activities to help reduce anti-social behaviour.
