JOB DESCRIPTION
To undertake cleaning duties throughout the home which will include the cleaning of all communal areas, including offices, lounge/dining areas, toilets, bathrooms and hallways as well as the regular and thorough cleaning of service users bedrooms, following a set schedule of work at a time acceptable to individual service users. To work as part of a team in order to provide the best quality service possible to our service users.


RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) To undertake the cleaning of service users bedrooms, communal areas, toilets and bathrooms in accordance with the home’s cleaning schedule, policy and procedure, and in so doing observe the colour coding system for mops and buckets.
(b) To clean, dust and vacuum as appropriate to maintain a tidy and healthy communal environment.
(c) To ensure that bathing facilities and toilet cleaning includes disinfecting toilets, sinks, baths, walls, floors and doors, and the replacement of sundries i.e. toilet rolls, paper towels, liquid soap etc.
(d) To empty all wastepaper baskets, ash trays and other receptacles for the collecting and disposing of waste.
(e) To use equipment properly and with care, observe all health and safety requirements, and reporting any problems or potential hazards to the manager.
(f) To undertake any other duties relating to the post that may be required from time to time.
(g) To attend any health and safety or other appropriate training as required by the manager and be aware of and adhere to COSHH regulations and have a working knowledge of the home’s policies and procedures.
(h) To attend and contribute to staff meetings.
(i) To ensure good hygiene practice with regard to hand washing and the wearing of appropriate clothing in order to prevent the risk of personal and cross infection.
(j) To be sensitive to service users’ social, cultural, and religious needs.
(k) To ensure that confidentiality is maintained and information concerning a service user is never discussed with any other person without the service user’s informed consent.
(l) To report any problems/changes/complaints concerning the home or service users to the manager.
(m) To maintain good working relationships and communication with all stakeholders.

CONTRACTED HOURS
The basic hours of work are hours per week and are flexible to allow for the exigencies of the service, e.g. Bank Holidays.

EXPERIENCE
Required of working in a social care environment
Relevant training will be given.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Confidentiality is of prime importance in the normal course of duty. The post holder will have access to confidential information relating to the home. Such information must not be communicated to anyone, unless prior permission has been given, there is a danger to health, or for legal reasons.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
To operate within the home’s health and safety policy.
