Are you a Band 5 Nurse with an excellent working knowledge of children's bladder and bowel health?

Children's Bladder and Bowel Service (CBaBS) have a rare opportunity to join their small, supportive team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS).

Our team are based at Witney Community Hospital, you will be expected to travel across the county of Oxfordshire and hold clinics.

We work with children young people (2-18 years) and their families experiencing ongoing bladder and bowel problems.  You will need to be passionate about delivering holistic psychosocial nursing care. 

The successful candidate will have current working  knowledge of the  bladder and  bowel systems, including its functions and disfunctions.  You will require good anatomy and physiology knowledge, knowledge of relevant  medications,  excellent communication, assessment and teaching skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage a caseload
  • Undertake clinical assessment of patients
  • Provide families with treatment advice.
  • Facilitate learning of OH staff about bladder and bowel conditions and promotion of good health and good bladder and bowel function.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are a very small specialist bladder and bowel team that cover the whole of Oxfordshire. 

If you would love a new challenge in bladder and bowel, running a caseload and working autonomously as well as a part of a team we would love for you to apply. 

This is a clinical role and involves assessing patients for their needs around the county in clinical settings.  

Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria
  • NMC RN
  • Evidence of ongoing development and education
  • Ability to travel to regional meetings and between sites
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant postgraduate training
Experience Essential criteria
  • Post-graduate experience in bladder and bowel services/continence promotion
  • Evidence of working with multi-disciplinary teams and other professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Community experience
Personal Qualities Essential criteria
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Able to cope with the physical demands of the post
Desirable criteria
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
