Summary

FM Conway is currently seeking an experienced Structures Team Leader to join our Consultancy division. As our Structures Team Leader, you will lead a team of designers and inspectors with a primary focus on highway structures. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, ensure successful project delivery, and support team development within a collaborative, safety-focused environment. You will also oversee technical direction, coordinate with clients, contractors, and FM Conway divisions, including Term Maintenance, Structures, and Lighting and address technical issues as they arise. This is a full time, permanent position based from our Head Office in Sevenoaks, Kent.

The duties of the Structures Team Leader role will include:

- Developing a team of structural designers and inspectors, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth

- Developing excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and external providers

- Overseeing the planning, designing, and delivery of highway structures projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards

- Carrying out monthly programme and financial reporting

- Liaising with the client team on progress

- Preparing reports, drawings, schedules, bills of quantities, cost estimates and other documents in accordance with local procedures

What skills and experience do you need?

We are looking for a Structures Team Leader who is either a Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civils Engineers (ICE) or an equivalent professional status. You will also have significant experience in structural engineering and experience leading a team of engineers. The successful candidate will be familiar with local government and private sector clients, with good working knowledge of different contract types, including NEC3.
