Your new role
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience delivering structured interventions and working 1:1 or in small groups? We have an exciting opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Birmingham this September!

  • Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEMH focus)
  • Location: Birmingham (East Birmingham)
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Contract: Full-time, Temporary (1 term - Sept to Dec) with potential to go permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, school hours

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Deliver structured intervention programmes tailored to individual learning plans
  • Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and pastoral staff to support student progress
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or similar needs
  • Confident delivering structured interventions
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential)
