Base Location: Aberdeen

Salary: £50,100 - £75,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible working options available

The role

At SSE, Safety is our number one value. We live by our licence, if it's not safe, we don't do it. We focus on ensuring that we have no injuries or serious environmental incidents and that people are healthy and happy at work. Our Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SHW) function helps our teams across SSE to deliver this and ensure that we get everyone home safely at the end of the working day.

SSEN Transmission is looking for a Marine Safety Advisor - a skilled Occupational Health & Safety professional with strong expertise in Marine and Offshore Construction. While primarily office-based in Aberdeen, regular, short-duration travel to offshore worksites (in port and at sea) will be a key part of the role.

You will

- Assist Projects and Marine teams with a range of safety advice and support to ensure the successful implementation of the Safety Management System.

- Positively engage with contract partners both remotely and on worksites to monitor performance and compliance to help deliver an incident free project.

- Develop and review SSEN and contract partner documentation to ensure timely and safe vessel mobilisations and ongoing performance.

- Attend and actively participate in risk reviews, such as Hazard identifications (HAZIDs) and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs) to provide marine safety expertise in eliminating and reducing risk.

- Provide positive engagement and support to ensure remedial actions arising from audits and investigations are implemented; ensuring incidents are reviewed, recorded, communicated and reported at the correct levels, with actions closed out.

You have

- Extensive safety experience in offshore construction operations, with sound knowledge of regulations and standards associated with marine and offshore construction activities (e.g. cable lay, diving, trenching).

- Professional internal and external stakeholder management skills to drive cross business collaboration to build a high performing, commercially and customer focused safety culture.

- NEBOSH or equivalent qualification in Occupational Safety and be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience.

- Detailed knowledge of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment and application to the offshore sector.

- Due to the level of mobility required in this role, a full UK driving licence is essential. Valid Basic Offshore Survival Induction and Emergency Training (or equivalent) and Offshore Medical is desirable.
