Are you passionate about supporting educational outcomes for learners? Our Targeted Education Service is currently seeking a dedicated Penalty Notice Officer to join their team.

This service brings together several teams, all working collaboratively to improve educational outcomes for learners who may be at risk of underachievement. They are committed to developing and delivering a Local Authority-wide vision and strategy helping to secure better life chances for children and young people.

In this role, you will be responsible for responding to both verbal and written enquiries from parents, schools, and other professionals regarding all matters related to Penalty Notices. You will review documentation submitted by schools concerning unauthorised absences and will be required to sign and issue Penalty Notices in line with current legislation and the local code of conduct. Additionally, you will represent the Local Authority as a prosecutor in magistrates’ court and process court paperwork in cases where a Penalty Notice has not been paid

Our ideal candidate will have experience working with both professionals and members of the public, along with a practical understanding of legislation affecting children, parents, and education. A sound knowledge of Equal Opportunities legislation and its application when working with children and families is essential. You should also possess strong diplomatic skills and the ability to resolve conflict effectively and professionally.
