We are recruiting a Senior Practitioner at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Various Locations in the Borough

Team: Bargoed Locality Team


This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £41,511 - £44,711 with an additional £3,441 annual market supplement, and offer access to training and development opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint dynamic, experienced and enthusiastic practitioners to become part of our progressive and creative teams.



The successful candidates will hold a more complex caseload, be able to offer support, mentoring and supervision to team members, monitor team performance, assist the Team Manager, and deputise when required.



The Teams undertake high quality assessments and planning for children and their families who require ongoing social services intervention. The teams cover both short- and long-term work, including Children in Need of Care and Support, Safeguarding, Children Looked After and court work.

For the role, we ask that you have:

Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification.
Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice Programme within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1 April 2016).
Registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales or equivalent regulators in England, Scotland, or Northern Ireland.
An enhanced level of social work skills, expertise within child protection and court work and be able to promote and develop good standards of practice both personally and within the team.
Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings. (copy wording from Welsh JD – not been sent to translation)
