An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS FoundationTrust (LUHFT), based at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.
We are looking for an enthusiastic,personableand motived dietitian to work in inpatient and outpatient settings.You willsee outpatients who fall within the Diabetes Super Six Model of Care,primarilycomplex type 1 patients. You will be trainedto provide carb countingeducation.
You will work closely with diabetes and ward based multi-disciplinary teamsand provideeducation to fellow health care professionals within and outside the organisation.
You will work closely withSpecialist Diabetes Dietitians, consultantsandthe widerdiabetes MDT to provideoutpatient care.
The inpatient role will involvesupporting the diabeteswards,you mayalsobe requiredto cross cover for wider dietetic inpatient services.
You will provide supervision for junior staff and support our renowned student training program.
We welcome applications from all with diabetes and general medicalexperience as training will be offered. We will also consider an Annex 21 training post.
This is an excellent opportunitytodevelop your knowledge and skills in a variety of areas.
This post requires a proactive approach where you contribute to innovation, service development and audit. You will be supported with personal development goals and have regular clinical supervision and peer support.
Collect medical, social,biochemicaland pharmacological information
Undertake nutritional and dietary assessments
Devise and agree nutritional care plan throughgood communicationskills, focussing on being patientcentred at all times
Work alongside other health care professionals on care plans
Monitor progress
Utilise effective communication skills to provide nutrition and dietetic advice to individuals and groups; ensuring technical information is given in a way they can understand
Maintain good clinical standards in record keeping and in written communication
Use counselling skills to assess motivation and overcome barriers to change
Liaise with caterers and other staff to ensure provision of suitable meals and snacks for patients
Attend ward rounds/case conferences and ward meetings
Undertake supervision of student dietitians
Plan and prioritise own caseload
Work closely day to day with a range of Medical and Surgical Multi-disciplinary Teams.
