Summary
Paralegal | Manchester City Centre | Full Time | £27,000 – £32,000 per annum
Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding law firm based in the heart of Manchester City Centre, specialising in financial litigation and consumer credit. They provide legal services concerning a variety of claim types, such as Plevin/PPI, motor finance, and secret commissions.
They are looking for a paralegal who is not afraid to challenge themselves and the misconduct of lenders and financial institutions. An ability to stay positive and motivated despite seemingly insurmountable odds, whilst fighting for individual consumers against the infinitely deep pockets of financial institutions, is a must.
Are you the right person for the job?
• Graduate with a Law Degree and previous experience working as a paralegal
• Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience, with at least 1 year in Financial Litigation (preferred)
• Experience managing own litigated caseload, ideally within financial mis-selling (minimum 18 months desirable)
• MUST have experience with Small Claims Track and Fast Track claims
• Experience with Fast Track / Multi Track is desirable
• Personable skills with experience managing client expectations
• IT literate with working knowledge of Word and Excel. Training will be provided on CRM
• Good keyboard skills are essential
• Client-focused with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build strong client relationships
• Highly organised, able to prioritise and meet strict deadlines
• Capable of working independently and using initiative to solve problems
• Strong attention to detail
• Confident oral and written communication skills
• Team player with a proactive and enthusiastic attitude

What will your role look like?
• Reviewing and assessing the merits of claims
• Maintaining ongoing contact with individual clients and managing expectations
• Managing own litigated case load efficiently and independently to a high standard
• Working to strict court deadlines to prepare claims for trial
• Drafting replies to defences, witness statements, skeleton arguments, and evaluating quantum
• Compiling trial bundles
• Pursuing disclosure and assessing documentation received
• Negotiating settlements with Defendants
• Ability to conduct Preliminary, Direction and Allocation Hearings is a plus
• To understand and run Small Track, Fast Track and Multi Track Cases
• Conducting research into how the law is developing and continuously keeping knowledge up to date
