Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist
Location: Suffolk
Reports To: Project Manager
Employment Type: Contract, 6 month rolling contracts
Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced EHS Specialist to support our clients operations, with a specific focus on substation construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs that ensure compliance with state and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. This position requires field experience and the ability to work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure a safe work environment throughout all phases of substation and construction activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and enforce EHS policies and procedures
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory and client-specific standards.
- Provide technical EHS support during the planning and execution of substation and transmission line projects.
- Facilitate EHS training programs for field personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action planning.
- Maintain accurate EHS documentation, including safety meeting minutes, inspection reports, and incident logs.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction supervisors, and engineering teams to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Ensure environmental compliance including waste management, stormwater protection, and spill response during construction activities.
- Monitor high-risk activities such as energized work, crane lifts, excavation, confined space entry, and work at height.
- Liaise with utility companies, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications: Required:
- NEBOSH Qualified
- 3–5+ years of EHS experience in the transmission & distribution or power utility sector
- Proven ability on high-voltage construction projects.
- Effective communication, training, and leadership skills in a field-based construction environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple job sites.
Working Conditions:
- Site based role
- 50 hours per week
- LTD pay available
