A Full valid UK driving licence and access to a car is required for this role.

A DBS may be required for this role.



The role:

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Lettings Officer to provide an excellent customer focused service to coordinate and administer the process for the reletting of empty homes, ensuring properties are let in accordance with the Council’s Allocations Policy and Home Choice scheme.

You will place a clear emphasis on a high-quality customer service, sustaining tenancies and minimising rent loss.



Key responsibilities:

Manage the letting process for properties by coordinating viewings, preparing and completing sign-up paperwork, and communicating outcomes to the Allocations Team within required timescales
To ensure the prospective tenant understands their rights and obligations under the tenancy agreement
Process termination notices from Council tenants within set timeframes and coordinate with the Allocations team to advertise upcoming vacant properties
Ensure relet timescales are met to achieve performance targets and maximise rental income from the Council's housing stock
Develop and maintain processes to keep Housing Officers informed of all lets, including details on vulnerable households, to support sustainable tenancies
Maintain strong collaboration with the Allocations and Homeless Advice teams to ensure a proactive letting process and minimise void loss
Ensure timely and accurate responses to enquiries while maintaining proper documentation and records



What the client is looking for:

A minimum qualification of 5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) to include English and Maths
3-5 years’ experience of delivering customer focused, quality services
Substantial experience of interviewing and providing assistance to vulnerable clients
Experience of maintaining accurate records
Experience of working in partnership with external organisations and agencies
A good working knowledge of legislation relating to housing allocations
A good knowledge of Housing and Welfare Benefits Regulations
Good problem solving and decision-making skills, combined with the ability to make sound decisions in pressurised situations
To act tactfully and with sensitivity and courtesy at all times
Excellent IT Skills and administration skills
Experienced in managing caseloads with strong interpersonal, organisational, influencing, and communication skills, delivering empathetic and high-quality customer service
Skilled at making and communicating difficult decisions with empathy, calmness, and excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities
