Location: Penrith, Cumbria
Contract Length: 4 months (potential for extension)
37 hours per week
Our Client is seeking a highly motivated and well-organised HR Assistant to join their dedicated HR Team. In this key administrative role, you will support the delivery of a comprehensive HR service to managers and staff across the force. You will help maintain effective management information systems and contribute to the smooth running of HR functions.
Principal Responsibilities
Provide clerical and administrative support to the HR Team.
Maintain electronic filing systems and established administrative procedures.
Act as a point of contact for internal and external enquiries, providing information and obtaining accurate data via telephone, email, or face-to-face interactions.
Liaise effectively with other departments and external stakeholders (including other police forces).
Participate in meetings where appropriate and contribute to HR team objectives.
Perform any other duties consistent with the role, responsibilities, and grading.
You will not have supervisory responsibilities but will be expected to effectively prioritise your workload.
You will work closely with HR Advisors, Senior HR Advisors, and the HR Manager.
You will play a vital part in supporting the operational efficiency of the HR department.
Managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while balancing conflicting priorities.
Ensuring data and record accuracy to support timely and reliable management information.
Essential Criteria:
Experience in administrative environments.
Exposure to HR practices.
Confident in handling enquiries and maintaining confidentiality.
Competent in data input, record-keeping, and retrieval.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels.
Minimum of GCSE Maths & English at Grade 4 (or equivalent).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)s
Previous experience working in an HR environment. (Desirable)
A formal HR qualification or willingness to study towards one once appointed. (Desirable)
