What skills and experience we're looking for

We are offering a unique career opportunity as an Inclusion Lead. The purpose of this post is to lead on inclusion strategies to support vulnerable students and engage them with their learning, to deliver Early Intervention programmes to support the complex needs of vulnerable students swiftly and to take a lead on ensuring all pupils are safe and every day be proactive in monitoring and intervening with our vulnerable children. In additional, Inclusion Leads are responsible for putting alternative provision in place and ensuring it is appropriate, has a clear purpose and has a positive impact for students and the College.

Leaders provide effective support to develop teachers' subject and pedagogical knowledge. Staff are very positive about the support they receive from leaders. They are proud to work at the school. Those newest to teaching speak particularly highly of the support they receive. Leaders listen carefully to staff. This helps them manage staff well-being and workload.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent including Maths and English (or equivalent ie. O’Level, CSE Grade 1)
• Appropriate Level 3 qualifications
• Degree level qualification or equivalent

Experience

• Experience of working with students in a learning environment
• Successful experience of working with secondary age students
• Two years or more experience of working with young people
• Experience of working with parents/carers or adults in educational or community settings
• Experience of working with young people whose learning may have been impeded due to a range of circumstances

Knowledge & Understanding

• Knowledge and experience of working with SEND students
• Understanding of principles of learning processes and in particular barriers to learning
• Ability to teach social, emotional and behavioural skills
• Good understanding of inclusion
• Good understanding of differentiation

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to form strong relationships with students and staff
• Ability to liaise with outside agencies
• Ability to remain calm in situations of high tension
• Ability to manage own workload and work on own initiative
• Good organising, planning and prioritising skills
• Methodical with good attention to detail
• Good ICT skills
• Determination and resilience to embrace new developments to raise student attainment
