Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Dietitian to join our friendly team at the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (OSRU). You will be working as part of a dedicated clinical team comprising speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, medical and nursing staff, offering assessment and therapy to adults who have sustained a stroke. You will be leading the Dietetic provision on OSRU, to provide specialist evidenced based nutrition and dietetic support. working collaboratively with the MDT. Alongside this role, you will be responsible for the supervision of a rotational Band 5 Dietitian working across the other Community Hospitals in Oxfordshire.
Applicants must hold a valid UK driving license and have access to a car or other suitable vehicle.
Main duties of the jobYou will be a qualified and HCPC registered Dietitian with current knowledge of assessment and treatment procedures relevant to the client group.

You will be well supported and encouraged to fulfil your potential through regular supervision, attendance at relevant training courses and ongoing review of self-led yearly objectives. The Clinical Lead Dietitian is a highly skilled clinician who provides clinical leadership for the Dietetic Team across The Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit (OSRU). The Clinical Lead Dietitian will promote evidence-based practice and will have a high level of clinical expertise in nutrition support and dysphagia. They will lead on training linking to developing staff in this specialist area. They will develop and lead on the dietetic provision for the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit. They will manage a complex caseload of patients, providing high quality care, which is appropriate, cost effective and efficient.
The post holder will be responsible for the management, development and supervision of dietitians within their team, and work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. They participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, protocols and guidelines which are relevant to the Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.
- Previous specialist experience in nutrition support and dysphagia management at Band 6/7
- Current experience of working with 'MUST' (or similar nutrition screening tools)
- Complex caseload management including experience of capacity assessments for non-oral feeding
- An understanding of the key physical health issues related to health inequalities.
- BSc (Hons) Nutrition / Dietetics degree or post graduate diploma or equivalent.
- Registration with HCPC.
- Member of the BDA virtual stroke group
- Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of providing dietetic input in an inpatient setting.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience of working in community or primary care
