With a positive permission culture and can-do approach, we embrace innovation and nurture great talent.
Housing Team - Our Legacy
Housing is one of our priorities for creating a better and fairer Salford. As employees of the council, we all have a vital role to play in achieving our vision of creating a better and fairer Salford, by providing the best possible quality of life for the people of the city, through a range of services across Salford.
Salford City Council’s Supported Housing Team were Winners of Front Line Team of the Year by Inside Housing Magazine and Care and Support Team of the Year in the Housing Heroes 2020 awards organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing. It recognises our support for a wide range of people who are at risk of losing their accommodation or have become homeless.
We have also been filmed for several television documentaries as well as a few news programmes. The most recent programme being Manctopia on BBC 2 during the pandemic. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08nf12t
To enable us to continue supporting our communities and deliver an excellent service, we are building capacity to help us with our response to support those who are vulnerable with a housing need including street homeless.
About You
Your style and approach will reflect our values: you will be passionate about what you do always striving to improve things; valuing and respecting others’ contribution, with a people-centred approach to ensure our values are front and centre in all you do. You will take pride in working side by side with clients, all relevant agencies, and interested partners, to develop bespoke customer focused early intervention and prevention initiatives that promote tenancy sustainment and assist vulnerable people to participate in their communities. You will enjoy taking personal responsibility to understand and resolve issues and are able to adapt what you do and how you do it to make a real difference to people’s lives.
About the Roles
Within Supported Housing Service there are a number of teams with a focus on different clients groups. These teams work with people sleeping rough, refugees, ex-armed forces, people leaving prison services, people fleeing domestic abuse, clients with complex and enduring mental health concerns, and many other groups of people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless. Each team has its own demands, for instance working with people who are rough sleeping requires early morning and/or late night outreach to sleep sites. This will involve going out at 6am and then over future months continuing to work and support the people you have located, assisting them to access the agencies they need, and then into settled accommodation.
What can we offer you?
You will be welcomed into a friendly environment where your personal and professional development will be actively encouraged.
Your work-life balance and wellbeing are really important to us, so you will have access to a range of benefits including:
- Flexible and hybrid working
- Free Car Parking
- Excellent Terms and Conditions
- Employee Wellbeing and Reward portal
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
If you have the skills to work as part of a busy team; have empathy with those who are vulnerable with a housing need including street homeless; you are friendly and confident and happy to work in a customer facing role, then we would love to hear from you.
