Ty Gwyn Education Centre wishes to appoint a Learning Recovery Teaching Assistants to complement our existing team.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre is a secondary age Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) located in a newly refurbished building in the Aberdare area, serving the whole of RCT and learners from age 11 to 16 years.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre offers specialist provision for up to 60 learners with behavioural, emotional and social needs that cannot be met in their mainstream school. Learners are a mixture of full and part time (KS3 only) and access a broad and balanced curriculum of core subjects (English, Maths and Science) and a range of vocational and foundation subjects. There is a growing emphasis on developing learner wellbeing and mental health and Ty Gwyn is a Trauma Informed School with a growing team of therapeutic support staff.
As a Learning Recovery Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting and guiding children and young people to make positive choices and return to learning on a needs basis. You will sup-port pupils should they need it on a dynamic and (at times) planned basis, including emotional check ins, short and focussed interventions to resolve an issue and where required, planned support work. You will support and guide pupils on entry to school and during transitions throughout the day where co-regulation is needed. There is a requirement to undertake some lunch and break time duties. You will be a lifelong learner and a trusted responsible figure in the PRU.
Ty Gwyn Education Centre continues to make progress post pandemic, external examination results are positive for Y11 pupils, standards of teaching and learning and the management of relationships remain strong under the current leadership team.
