We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a 1.0WTE Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP; Band 7) within the Diabetes dietetic team. This position will form part of a team which includes 5.8WTE dietitians working within the Diabetes multi-disciplinary team. The GSTT diabetes service is wide reaching, providing treatment and support for adult patients across inpatients, day care centres, hospital and community clinics, and patient education sessions.This tACP will form part of this specialist multi disciplinary team, working across inpatient, outpatient and community services.

Training Commitment

This role includes being successful in securing a place on a3 year MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programme,which will equip the tACP with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to practise as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. Study will be supported by an accredited HEI and integrated with supervised clinical practice across the 3-year masters programme. The Trainee must complete the Masters programme in its entirety as well as successfully complete the programme within the set time frame in order to progress to an ACP.Upon qualification, they will progress to a Band 8a ACP role.

Advanced clinical practice is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a Master’s level award that encompasses the four practice pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research/ Quality Improvement (QI), with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

Advanced clinical practice involves the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. It includes the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative shared solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.

On completion of the masters programme, the ACP will be expected to work autonomously acrossallfour pillars of advanced practiceas outlined in theBDA Advanced Practice Framework:Clinical Practice,Leadership and Management,Education,andResearch.

The department of Nutrition and Dietetics is made up of an Adult and Paediatric Nutrition workforce of over 100 staff, generating an income of over 10million. This is a highly complex service, delivering highly specialised Dietetics as part of clinical services across the Trust, and into the Community, including providing professional guidance for our catering services and ensuring our compliance with Nutrition Standards for the Trust.
