About Us
Unique Support & Care Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a specialist provider 5 committed Responsible Individuals to oversee children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), provide strategic oversight and ensure our service is safe, compliant, and person-centred.
About the Role
As the Responsible Individual, you will act as the liaison between the provider and Ofsted, ensuring the home operates in full compliance with relevant regulations, legislation, and quality standards. You will provide professional supervision and governance for the Registered Manager and ensure the welfare, safeguarding, and development of the children remain the central focus at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and quality oversight of the children’s residential care service
• Ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements
• Support, supervise, and hold the Registered Manager accountable for day-to-day operational delivery
• Ensure safeguarding procedures and child protection measures are robust and consistently applied
• Monitor performance, compliance, and care outcomes through regular audits and reports
• Build and maintain strong relationships with placing authorities, professionals, and external agencies
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, trauma-informed practice, and child-centred care
• Participate in Ofsted inspections and regulatory processes as the designated Responsible Individual
Essential Requirements:
• Must be eligible to act as a Responsible Individual under Ofsted and CQC regulations
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent)
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a senior management role within children’s residential care
• In-depth knowledge of EBD, safeguarding, Ofsted and CQC inspections, and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
• Experience supporting or overseeing services rated “Good” or “Outstanding” by Ofsted and CQC
• Excellent leadership, communication, and governance skills
• Enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list (or willingness to undertake one)
• Right to work in the UK
Desirable:
• Social Work, Psychology, or Therapeutic background
• Previous Ofsted and CQC inspection involvement or Responsible Individual experience
• Trauma-informed or therapeutic care training
• Driver with access to a vehicle
