Job Description: Are you a relationship-focused professional with a passion for account management? We are currently seeking a Key Account Manager to join our team at the Bathgate site. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for key clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded while building long-term, strategic relationships. You will work closely with internal teams to deliver tailored logistics solutions and maintain a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of and develop strong, long-term relationships with key customer accounts across the UK.
  • Occasional travel involved between company depots and customer sites to maintain direct engagement and ensure a clear understanding of client needs.
  • Report directly to the Operations Director, supporting the execution of group-wide strategies while championing continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Work in close collaboration with Operations Managers to align service strategies and deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Lead regular weekly meetings and calls with key customers to review performance, resolve issues, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage and support the depot-based Customer Service team, ensuring timely and effective resolution of customer enquiries and maintaining high service standards.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new accounts, ensuring a smooth, efficient transition and alignment with customer expectations from the outset.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to meet sales targets while maintaining a strong customer-focused approach and exploring opportunities for joint growth.
  • Utilise Excel and internal systems to monitor account activity, analyse performance metrics, and generate insights to drive strategic decisions and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in key account management, preferably in the logistics or transportation industry.
  • Strong understanding of logistics operations and industry trends.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic focus and continuous improvement experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
  • Solution-driven and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM software.
  • A valid UK licence and flexibility for occasional travel.
