Quality Assurance Technician



Contract Type: Permanent

Hours of work: Nights (22:00 – 06:00) Sunday to Thursday nights inclusive

Location: Clayton Park Bakeries at Clayton le Moors and Huncoat near Accrington, this role will cover both sites.

SPAR stores across the north of England.

About the Role

As a Quality Assurance Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the production of safe, high-quality food that meets company
specifications and industry standards. You’ll be involved in all stages of the manufacturing process – from development to
finished product – while helping to maintain our strong quality and food safety culture.



What Will I Be Doing?

* Carrying out product quality checks (e.g., temperatures, label accuracy)
* Conducting site audits (e.g., hygiene, GMP, CCP verifications)
* Supporting the preparation for external audits such as BRC, SALSA, EHO, and customer visits
* Ensuring traceability documentation is complete and compliant
* Managing calibration of site equipment (e.g., scales, probes)
* Collecting and preparing product samples for lab testing and internal assessments
* Investigating and helping resolve customer complaints
* Attending quality meetings and contributing to continuous improvement



A Few Things About You

* Experience working in a food manufacturing environment
* Good knowledge of HACCP and quality management systems
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
* Able to prioritise, work independently, and meet tight deadlines
* Good IT skills (Word, Excel) and effective written/verbal communication
* Food hygiene and Level 2 HACCP qualifications as a minimum
* A degree in a food-related subject is advantageous
