We are looking for a kind, reliable and confident Personal Assistant to support a bright and loving 17-year-old young person with additional needs. The role will begin at the end of August or early September and includes regular hours during both school term time and holidays.
Ideally, the PA would be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30pm to 6:30pm, with some flexibility for additional hours during school breaks. Support will take place both at home and out in the community.
The young person you’ll be supporting has a rare genetic condition that includes autism, a learning disability, visual impairment, epilepsy, and microcephaly. She has a great sense of humour, loves to chat, and enjoys music and spending time outdoors. She thrives with a companion who is friendly and warm, but also able to maintain clear and consistent boundaries.
The role may involve preparing simple meals, going out on trips to the park, shops or a local café, and encouraging independence through daily life skills. Support with personal care routines such as showering and getting ready for bed will also be part of the role.
We are ideally looking for someone with experience in supporting children or young people with additional needs/vulnerable people. Someone who is patient, understanding, and perhaps has children of their own or a background in care or education would be well-suited to this position.
